Certain DVDs which contain a Video RM file do not ingest properly when using DVD Import. An error occurs saying "unsupported DVD format-FAIL". The DVD will contain an Audio TS, Video RM, and Video TS file. When dragging over the Video TS file ONLY we will receive an error when a Video RM is present. What exactly is is a Video RM and why is it causing a problem with the ingestion of the DVD? How can a DVD be burned without a Video RM file coming up?
Video TS and Video RM Question(3 posts) (2 voices)
VIDEO_RM is a proprietary format used by some one-touch recorders, and is not a standard DVD. DVD Import cannot deal with VIDEO_RM folders, and when a VIDEO_RM folder is present, it means there is not true, standard DVD information in the VIDEO_TS folders.
Most of the recorders we have ever seen that use the VIDEO_RM setup have a way to turn it off. Different makes and models call this feature by different names but usually there is a menu selection where you can select between something like STANDARD and ENHANCED or sometimes STANDARDS MODE or ADVANCED MODE, etc. Whatever it is called, you want to select the the standards mode to create standard-compliant DVDs.
